UPDATE - Monday, Jan 9th
Just talked to Liberty's surgeon at MedVet. She did ok over night but they want to hold off a day for the second surgery. They checked her blood count, and as a result of the trauma and the bleeding, as well as all the fluids she is on, her blood count is very low. She is also very swollen. So she is getting a transfusion today and they are wrapping her leg and going to try to give her a day of rest and try to decrease the swelling and get her stronger before putting her under anesthesia for another 3 hour surgery.
DONATIONS ARE STILL GREATLY NEEDED. Thank you.

Liberty Update - Sunday Jan. 8th
UPDATE!
Liberty had her first surgery today. They did her left leg first as it seemed to be causing her the most pain. She had to breaks in her femur (upper leg) and one in her lower leg. She has plates and pins and wires - she's a bionic doggy! The doctors continue to be concerned about the bruising in her groin area but haven't seen any evidence that the accident caused a hernia - the organs all seem to still be where they're supposed to be. They suspect that the impact jammed her femur bone up into her groin area and caused injury.
If she has a good night, the plan is to do the surgery on her right leg tomorrow. She has two breaks in her right leg. If she continues to improve and her pain can be managed, we hope she will go to her foster home on Wednesday.
The doctor said she is a delight - the staff at MedVet have fallen in love with Miss Liberty. Please continue to share the chipin and help us pay for the surgery - it's going to be about $5500-$6500 after our discount. We are so thankful to all who have donated so far, and we are just so happy that Liberty should be okay once the surgeries are over and she has a chance to heal.

Please help with Liberty's vet bill for surgery!
Liberty was brought in to the Daviess County shelter on Friday 1/6 by her owner. She was hit by a car that morning and they could not afford vet care for her. The shelter took her to the vetm where she was examined and found to have two broken legs. Specifically, her rght leg has a shattered growth plate on femur and fractured femur and tib/fib fracture. Her left leg has a shattered ball joint and fractured femur fractured tib-fib. She's in a lot of pain even with pain meds.
Recycled Doggies has offered to take her, knowig she will have a substantial vet bill and long road to recovery ahead. We are excited to meet Liberty and help her feel better. Any donations towards her vet care would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
